There are several community events we are planning to organize and attend in effort to expand our community outreach, county specific meets, a few fundraisers that we think you will love, membership drives, multiple training opportunities…. And our Gala venue is already booked for October 17, 2026. SAVE THE DATE!!
In 2026, members and volunteers will really have the opportunity to get involved and make a positive impact in our state. We will need your help in running tables to provide information to the community and potential new members, as well as helping us drive change through education.
After speaking with several individuals and organizations who have their ear to the legislative ground, we are concerned with the very real possibility of firearms registration being proposed and passed this session. Word is, it is coming this January.
Our local gun shops have already been impacted by the implementation of permit to purchase and the drop off in sales. Many in the community simply refuse to purchase more because they do not want the government involved in their rights. Imagine how a gun registration would impact not only lawful people but the gun shops we have all built relationships with in our community.
As elections approach it is imperative that we get people amped up to get to the polls. Less than 50% of firearms owners vote in local elections, and Delaware’s legislature is JUST ONE seat away from being able to change our state’s constitution without a single vote from the minority party. Balance must be restored so that our rights can be as well.
As advocates for women’s and community safety we take our rights very seriously. We have met and spoken with so many women, men, and children who have been adversely impacted by the violence being enabled through poorly written and weakly enforced state laws. Their lives, stories, and experiences matter, whether at school, at home, or in their community.
We are survivors ourselves. We know all too well that the system continuously fails victims and survivors of violent individuals. More importantly, we have an intimate understanding of how the laws and systems currently in place continuously fail.
Last session, anti-gun lawmakers voted against school security funding and holding convicted child sexual offenders accountable within our schools.
Many defended a convicted child rapist who was heading the Sussex County chapter of the Democrat party because “he wins elections.”
They advocated for the consequences of statutory rape and beastiality to be lessened.
They stated that convicted child predators “need to be able to live to” when denying a bill that would prevent those convicted from obtaining just the taxpayer funded portion of their pensions.
They made claims that the possibility of a mass school shooting was so slim that legislative action is unnecessary … After using school shootings to justify the banning of commonly owned handguns, rifles, and shotguns based on looks alone..
We must enact change for the safety of our families and for our future generations!
This year alone we have seen multiple mass shootings, stabbings on public transit, women lit on fire or doused in chemicals, children and mothers being hunted down and killed by domestic abusers, potential acts of terrorism, and group initiated acts of violence.
These acts have impacted not just the US but many other countries who have had extremely strict gun control laws in place for decades. Violence is not specific. Violence can be committed with any tool or with none at all.
The only thing gun control accomplishes is the disarmament of good people who have and should maintain the right to LIVE by any means necessary… and the emboldening of the black market, just like during the 1994 prohibition of commonly owned semi-automatic firearms.
WDC is operated by a small group of volunteer moms who simply want better for Delaware, desire safety for our loved ones, and wholly support our enshrined right to life. Together we can accomplish great things. You have seen it and we will keep fighting.

If you are unsure of who your State Representative, Senator, or County Council members are, or who is representing you, click here for an informative post with maps from Shannon Tiberi.
Here is another post from Shannon showing the openings this coming election. If you or someone you know is interested in running, please consider it.
Our government was supposed to be run FOR the people and BY the people. What we have today does not seem to be in line with those guiding principles and your community needs you!
