W.D.C. at Leg Hall

While waiting to speak in opposition of HB 450 & 451, of course, a few of us took a minute to have our photo taken with a steadfast 2A Senator, Brian Pettyjohn!

Women’s Defense Coalition members often go to Leg Hall, speaking on behalf of or in opposition to bills that will help or hinder women’s safety.

Additionally, there are times when members take to the halls with informational pamphlets and the message… LESS FEAR, MORE FREEDOM.

As the Legislative session draws to a close and elections are rapidly approaching, it is important to come face to face with the lawmakers who hold the fate of our rights in their hands, taking the time to thank lawmakers who have been steadfast in the preservation of 2A and reminding those who haven’t …. We’re not going anywhere.

In anticipation of elections, we dedicated our time to speaking with candidates in efforts to determine their stance on 2A, women’s safety, and our constitutional right to choose our own means of protection. You can see the results of those inquiries HERE.

When we look at defensive gun use in the United states, one thing we need to understand is… defensive gun use is not recorded unless at least 1 shot is fired and over 80% of defensive gun use ends without a single shot. It would almost seem as if criminals are deterred by a good guy… or gal… with a means of defense equal to or exceeding the means of evil.

Polls taken within our prisons confirm, a criminal is 95% less likely to target someone who they perceive as someone who may be armed or who will put up a fight. Its high time we stop acting like victims and own our own safety.

How do we do this? Training. Training with the defensive tool of our choice.

What or who determines the level of protection that we need? OURSELVES.

Our state should play no part in that choice.

WDC and its members would like to take a minute to thank every Legislator and candidate who refuses to support more gun laws. Lawmakers and potential lawmakers who recognize the value of our rights deserve the recognition of the very ones who depend on those rights to sustain safety for themselves and their loved ones.

Happy campaigning!
