We would like to take a moment to thank Chris Vellrath for his excellent skills with a camera and for completely understanding WDC’s mission to empower women.

Saturday, September 24, 2022 was an EPIC day! Over 40 participants came out to experience Delaware’s FIRST safety & Self-defense expo, With Women In Mind, held at Nanticoke Sportsmen’s Club, Delaware Tactical’s home range.

With Women In Mind boasted 5 stations that each taught different aspects of self-defense and built on skills learned at the other stations.

Scott Taylor / Delaware Tactical: Levels of awareness. Reaction vs reaction. Respecting the fluidity and speed of an attack. Building those “IF plans.”

Deborah Remer / Women’s Defense Coalition: Home Defense. Home security. Building your safe room.

Shawn & Crystal Rau / It’s All About Protection: Parking lot scenarios. How to handle potentially violent encounters when out in public.

Ted Dabbs / Seaside Dojo: Street combatives. Using skills & techniques vs strength to get away from an attacker, create space & time necessary to survive, and using your voice to disrupt the planned attack.

Ted, Chris, Ken, Aaron / Delaware Tactical Training Group: Active shooter scenario based training. Based on YOUR physical capabilities, YOUR skill level, and the defensive tools at YOUR disposal… What could you do to ensure you and your loved ones survive?

Our mission was to empower women with skills, techniques and confidence necessary in becoming their first line of defense, no matter the tool(s) they choose to utilize. Understanding that survival is 90% mindset is key! This is why presenting ourselves as bold, confident, and strong is so important. Go into things thinking, “I can & I will!”, so that self-doubt and intrusive thoughts don’t cause hesitation that could cost you your life or the life of your loved one.

Once students had a few stations under their belt, we broke for lunch with Ben Coverdale and shopped vendor booths that were relative to the self-defense industry.
